Midway through my career, I made a pivotal shift to working in health and social care. This transformation allowed me to embrace my authentic self while engaging with people of all ages in diverse settings. During this time, I sought my own therapy, which proved to be both cathartic and life-changing. I had been experiencing life in a very disconnected way, feeling as though my body was merely a vehicle for my mind. Through my journey in somatic therapy, I developed a deeper connection with my body, cultivating mindfulness, groundedness, imagination, and creativity. This profound experience ignited a deep desire within me to help others navigate their own traumas, emotional blocks, and paths to personal growth.
I chose to train in person-centred therapy because it resonates beautifully with my core beliefs and experiences. My passion for learning has led me to enhance my practice through extensive training in trauma. I am also a certified brainspotting and breathwork practitioner, a Rainbow Baby Specialist through the Foundation for Infant Loss and a post-psychedelic integration therapist.
As a neurodivergent individual with dyspraxia, I understand the unique challenges and creative opportunities that come with this difference. My personal experiences have fuelled my ongoing interest in neurodivergence, enriching my perspective as a therapist.
I believe that therapy is not just about navigating the darkness but also about celebrating the joys and successes in life. I find humour to be an important part of the healing journey, helping to create a space where we can share not only the struggles but also the moments of lightness and joy that make life meaningful. I strive to be alongside my clients in all aspects of their lives, honouring what is important to them and fostering a sense of connection and understanding.
As a reflective practitioner, I regularly take time to contemplate my work—whether during a dog walk, through supervision sessions, or by engaging in ongoing training, events, and retreats. This continuous reflection ensures that I remain attuned to the needs of every client and the ethics of my practice.
My role as an Inclusion Champion with South East London Mind was a profoundly significant experience for me. The insights I gained from this role are deeply embedded in my approach to therapy, influencing how I think, feel, and practice. This experience has enriched my understanding of inclusion and the importance of creating a welcoming space for all clients.
Becoming a therapist has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life. I feel truly honored and grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside each of my clients, witnessing their courage and growth.
