My Pluralistic Approach
I work pluralistically, which means we collaborate to explore various therapeutic modalities together. This could include brainspotting (BSP), breathwork, sand tray therapy, movement therapy, or a range of creative resources. The essential aspect is that you and I co-create a relationship and a safe space that works for you, paving the way for lasting change and opening up new possibilities.
While our conversations form the foundation of our relationship, allowing me to connect with you empathically and genuinely, they are just one part of the rich tapestry of human experience. Engaging with resources like brainspotting, breathwork, sand tray therapy, and movement offers a unique opportunity to access where trauma or inner strength is held in the body and brain. This approach brings you more in touch with bodily sensations, deeply held feelings, imagery, visions, and potentially even spiritual experiences. Person-Centred Foundation
At the core of my practice is the person-centred approach, developed by Carl Rogers in the 1940s. His influential work has transcended psychotherapy, impacting fields such as health, education, and peace talks, and remains highly relevant today. Rogers conducted extensive research that demonstrated people change and grow when they are met with empathy and without judgment in the presence of someone who is genuine and real.
Rarely do we encounter someone who can genuinely offer this level of understanding, as many struggle to avoid judgment or may focus more on themselves than on us. If you’ve found it challenging to find someone in your life with whom you can explore your true feelings without the need to mask or alter yourself, you may find this approach refreshing. Ongoing research continues to affirm that, like flowers need water and sunlight to thrive, humans require unconditionality, warmth, genuineness, and empathetic understanding for growth to occur.
Rogers also believed that the human mind is as vast as the universe, advocating for deeper research and understanding of the various levels of consciousness we all experience, whether in active alert states, dream states, intuitive states, or altered states. My work is informed not only by Rogers’ principles but also by Eastern and Indigenous practices. Additionally, I am trained in post-psychedelic integration therapy, enabling me to support you in integrating your experiences, whether they are expansive or challenging.
As a fellow human being, I don’t claim to have all the answers. My approach focuses on helping you discover your own answers, which can be a challenging journey at times. However, I am here to walk alongside you, unjudgmentally holding space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears, and wishes, allowing your natural healing capacity and growth direction to emerge.
